On August 26, 1968, in Hoylake, a coastal town on Merseyside, a boy was born who would grow into Britain’s most meticulous chronometrist. Chris Boardman was not a flamboyant racer nor a grand tour conqueror. He was a scientist on two wheels, a rider who approached cycling not as theatre but as experiment, measurement, and precision. Few embodied the fusion of man and machine so completely.
